Emma Frucht, a twenty-one-year-old violinist from New York City, is completing her undergraduate education at Harvard University studying Art History. She will begin her graduate studies at Juilliard in the fall, studying with Daniel Phillips and Naoko Tanaka. Her primary teachers have included Louise Behrend, Naoko Tanaka, and Lynn Chang. Ms. Frucht has served as concertmaster of the Juilliard Pre-College Orchestra, the Harvard Radcliffe Orchestra, and the Music Academy of the West Festival Orchestra, and has given solo recital and chamber music performances at Juilliard, Alice Tully Hall, and Harvard University. Ms. Frucht has collaborated with artists such as Victoria Chiang, Naoko Tanaka, Alisa Weilerstein, Lynn Chang, Darrett Adkins, and Paul Katz. Ms. Frucht has also performed with the Parker String Quartet on viola as the winner of their 2016 Guest Artist Award. She has been a fellowship student at the Aspen Music Festival and School, the Music Academy of the West, the Taos School of Music, and Yellow Barn. At these festivals she has worked extensively with the Takács, Borromeo, Miró, and Brentano String Quartets. An avid chamber music and orchestral player, Ms. Frucht was also a selected participant of the Music Academy of the West’s orchestral String Leadership Program, receiving instruction from Glenn Dicterow and Jorja Fleezanis. Ms. Frucht has participated in solo and chamber music masterclasses with artists such as Pamela Frank, Donald Weilerstein, Aaron Rosand, Kathy Winkler, Yo-Yo Ma, Peter Salaff, Jonathan Biss, Menahem Pressler, and The Juilliard String Quartet. Ms. Frucht performs on a violin made in 1702 by Carlo Tononi.
